IGNITEa youth group
designed specifically for 6-7th graders.
Our theme verse for this group is taken from Matthew 22:37-39 : “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment’. And the second is like it:: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
It is our goal for each student to see each decision they make based upon these verses. We desire to see the love of Christ “ignite” in their lives as they learn to love others through Him.
Our Sunday morning Bible time begins by joining with our high school youth group, “FLUID 2819” for a time of learning God’s Word and how to apply it to their daily lives.
Wednesday evenings is the youth group time (6:00 – 7:30) for FLUID 28:19 and IGNITE where we have a time of fellowship and meal from 5:45-6:15 then moving to a time Worship together then FLUID 28:19 & IGNITE moves into their own time of look at God’s Word, our lives, and relationships through our theme verses. We encourage the students to ask questions and then discuss and discover answers. We hope that when they are old enough to advance into the high school group that they are prepared and ready to fully live out Christ’s love no matter what challenges they face.
Summer after students complete 7th grade they will join up with students from FLUID 2819 and attend Boot Camp in Austin through a partnership with Hill Country Northwest where they learn to work as a team in running a back yard Bible club here in Gonzales. In boot camp they draw closer and become united with others in their youth group, have a time of high energy and high impact fun and learning of presenting the Gospel to children which in turn gives them more confidence in their faith and makes them stronger as they head into a new year at school where they can influence others for Christ.
As you can see our youth groups are not set up the same way the school system is. This is by design. Incoming 6th graders have an opportunity to get to know students from the junior high campus so that when they are promoted into 7th grade they already know someone there and the older students are able to help make the transition from elementary to junior high easier.
